Introduction

The Brochures with BOM (Bill of Materials) product allows you to accurately calculate brochure pricing based on paper stock, click charges, folding options, finishing costs, and other production variables. Understanding how to configure and test pricing ensures your quotes are accurate and reflect your actual production costs.

Steps

Step 1 – Access the Brochures with BOM Product
  1. Navigate to Settings > Products.
  2. Open the Brochures with BOM product.
  3. Scroll to the Configure Pricing section.
Step 2 – Configure Click Charges
  1. Locate Step 1: Click Charge.
  2. Review the available click charge options:
    • Black & White Click Charge
    • Color Click Charge
    • Color One Side
    • Black & White One Side
  3. Select the meter rates that match your production equipment.
  4. To modify an existing click charge, click the Pencil (Edit) Icon.
  5. To create a similar click charge, click the Duplicate Icon and adjust the copied rate as needed.
Step 3 – Configure Paper Stock Options
  1. Review the available paper stocks listed in the Paper Stock section.
  2. Verify that the paper dimensions are correct.
  3. If changes are needed:
    • Click the Pencil (Edit) Icon to modify an existing paper.
    • Click the Duplicate Icon to copy a similar paper stock.
  4. When creating a new paper stock, duplicate one with matching dimensions whenever possible.
  5. Confirm the Height and Width values are accurate, as paper size directly impacts pricing calculations.
    1. NOTE: Duplicate or edit the paper with the exact dimesions labeled is very important. The specific size is use to determine how many sheets are needed in the calculations.
Step 4 – Review Default Items
  1. Scroll to the Default Items section.
  2. Review any connected costs, including:
    • Run Charges
    • Rush Fees
    • Machine Rates
    • Additional Costs
    • Packaging Costs
    • Brochure Cutting Charges
  3. Verify these default items are configured correctly and linked to the appropriate pricing calculations.
Step 5 – Test Pricing Using Check Pricing
  1. Click the Check Pricing button to verify resulting pricing.
  2. Enter or review the following fields:
    • Height
    • Width
    • Bleed
  3. Add any optional charges if needed:
    • Additional Costs
    • Packaging Costs
    • Freight Fees
    • Overage Percentage
  4. Select the brochure fold type:
    • Bi-Fold
    • Tri-Fold
    • Z-Fold
  5. Enable any applicable options:
    • Cutting
    • Special Colors
    • Double-Sided Printing
    • Rush Charge
  6. Choose the appropriate Click Charge.
  7. Select the desired Paper Stock.
  8. Review the calculated price and pricing breakdown.
Step 6 – Review the Pricing Breakdown
  1. Examine the total calculated price.
  2. Review individual cost components, including:
    • Paper Cost
    • Sheet Usage
    • Run Charges
    • Rush Fees
    • Additional Costs
  3. Confirm that optional charges are only included when their corresponding checkboxes are selected.
  4. Validate that the final pricing matches your expected production costs.
Step 7 – Test the Rotate 90 Feature
  1. Enable the Rotate 90 option in the pricing test area.
  2. Compare sheet utilization before and after rotation.
  3. Determine which orientation produces the most efficient layout.
  4. Use the configuration that minimizes sheet usage and production costs.

Step 8 – Verify Results in a Quote
  1. Create or open a quote.
  2. Add the Brochures with BOM product.
  3. Enter a quantity (example: 100).
  4. Select the appropriate:
    • Click Charge
    • Paper Stock
  5. Review the pricing details and sheet calculations.
  6. Compare results with and without Rotate 90 enabled.
  7. Confirm the most efficient configuration is being used.

🔹 Tip: When creating new paper stocks, duplicate an existing stock with the same dimensions to save setup time and reduce configuration errors.

🔹 Tip: Use the Check Pricing section whenever changes are made to click charges, paper stocks, or default items to validate pricing before quoting customers.
