Introduction

The Business Card products in shopVOX Pro provide a fast and standardized way to sell commercial printing products using predefined pricing grids. These products use a grid-based pricing structure that allows users to quickly select quantity, stock type, printing options, and card size to generate accurate pricing. This article will be reviewing several Business card Golden Products. The only difference would be the different finishes or card stock.

This article is designed to supplement the video below, with terminology and steps aligned directly to the walkthrough demonstrated.

Steps

Step 1 – Locate the Business Card Products
  1. Navigate to Settings > Products.
  2. Click Add New Product.
  3. Open the Commercial Printing category.
  4. Locate the available Business Card products:
    • Business Cards Digital
    • Business Cards Linen
    • Business Cards Matte Finish
    • Business Cards Silk Laminated
    • Business Cards UV Coated High Gloss

These products are organized by paper type and finish, allowing you to choose the option that best matches the product being sold.

Step 2 – Open a Business Card Product
  1. Select one of the Business Card products.
  2. Open the product details page.
  3. Review the two available tabs:
    • Configure Pricing
    • Check Pricing

The Configure Pricing tab is where pricing data is maintained, while Check Pricing allows users to test and verify pricing before using the product on a quote.

Step 3 – Understand the Grid Pricing Structure
  1. Select the Configure Pricing tab.
  2. Review the pricing grid.

Business Card products use a Grid UI, which functions like a mini spreadsheet.

The grid is built using three data points:

  • Rows = Quantity
  • Columns = Stock & Sides
  • Tabs = Size

This structure allows pricing to be determined by combining selected values from each category.

Step 4 – Review Grid Configuration Options

Within Configure Pricing, review the available grid settings:

Show Cost Columns

Displays the internal production cost for each pricing combination.

Unit Price

Displays the customer-facing selling price.

Use Quantity Breaks

Allows pricing ranges when selling by quantity ranges instead of predefined sets.

Most Business Card products are designed to be sold as packaged quantities (sets), making quantity breaks unnecessary in most cases.

Step 5 – Understand the 3D Grid Layout

Business Card products use a 3D Grid, meaning pricing is based on three variables:

Quantity

Examples:

  • 250
  • 500
  • 1,000
  • 2,500

Stock & Sides

Examples:

  • 4/0 (Full Color Front, Blank Back)
  • 4/1 (Full Color Front, Black Back)
  • 4/4 (Full Color Front and Back)

Size

Examples:

  • 3.5" × 2"
  • Alternate card sizes if configured

Each combination returns a unique price from the grid.

Step 6 – Test Pricing Using Check Pricing
  1. Select the Check Pricing tab.
  2. Choose a quantity.
  3. Select the desired stock and print configuration.
  4. Select the card size.

Example:

  • Quantity: 500
  • Stock & Sides: 4/4
  • Size: 3.5" × 2"

Once all options are selected, shopVOX retrieves the price directly from the pricing grid.

Step 7 – Review Other Business Card Variations

The same pricing structure is used across all Business Card products.

Review the following products:

  • Business Cards Digital Linen
  • Business Cards Matte Finish
  • Business Cards Silk Laminated
  • Business Cards UV Coated High Gloss

The primary difference between these products is the paper stock and finish options available within the grid.

The quoting experience remains consistent across all versions.

Notes & Tips

🔹 Tip: Use separate Business Card products when pricing varies significantly by paper type or finish.

🔹 Tip: Grid products work best when pricing already exists in a price sheet or vendor catalog.

🔹 Tip: Keep naming conventions consistent across stock and finishing options to make quoting easier for sales staff.

⚠️ Warning: Changes made within the pricing grid affect all future quotes using that product.

⚠️ Warning: Verify stock and sides selections carefully, as 4/0, 4/1, and 4/4 pricing may differ significantly.

⚠️ Warning: If importing pricing data, review the grid after import to confirm values loaded correctly.
