Setting Up SMS using Twilio - shopVOX Pro

Important: A paid Twilio account is required to use the shopVOX SMS feature. You must have your own active Twilio subscription set up prior to enabling or sending any SMS messages through the system.

shopVOX allows you to send text message notifications to your Customers Primary Contact for important updates. This feature helps keep your clients informed and engaged by delivering instant notifications for key events, such as:

  • When a quote is ready for client approval
  • When a proof review is sent to a client
  • When an invoice is created for a client

To enable SMS notifications in shopVOX, you’ll need to integrate your account with Twilio, a cloud communications platform that provides SMS services.

How to Set Up SMS in shopVOX

Step 1: Create a Twilio Account

  1. Go to www.twilio.com and sign up for a paid account.
  2. Log in to the Twilio Console.
  3. Retrieve the following credentials from your Twilio account:
    • Account SID
    • Auth Token
    • Twilio Phone Number

Step 2: Configure SMS in shopVOX

  1. In shopVOX, navigate to Settings > SMS.
  2. Enter your Account SID, Auth Token, and Twilio Phone Number.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. Once successfully connected, you will see a green check mark confirming the Twilio integration.

Step 3: Enable SMS Notifications for a Sales Order Primary Contact

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  2. Enable SMS notifications for the desired events:
    • Invoices Created: Enable SMS and the Sales Order Primary Contact will be notified
    • Proof Uploaded: Enable SMS and the Sales Order Primary Contact will be notified
    • New Review: Enable SMS and the Sales Order Contact will be notified

Step 4: Verify A Primary Contact's Phone Number

Before testing your SMS notifications:

  1. Go to a Customer, and edit the Primary Contact.
  1. Ensure that your correct mobile phone number is saved.

Step 5: Test Your SMS Notifications

Now that SMS is set up and verified:

  1. Trigger one of the configured events (e.g., create a new invoice or send a proof review).
  2. Check your phone to confirm that you receive the SMS notification.
    You have to have your payment gateway enabled for the Pay Here message to be included.
  3. If your payment gateway is connect your customer can click on the link to pay
