This setup helps ensure accurate pricing by accounting for the materials and processes required to produce greeting cards.

Steps

Step 1 – Access the Greeting Cards with BOM Product
  1. Navigate to Settings > Products.
  2. Locate and select Greeting Cards with BOM.
  3. Review the product setup sections displayed on the product configuration page.
Step 2 – Configure Click Charges
  1. Locate Section 1: Click Charges.
  2. Review the standard click charge options provided.
  3. To modify an existing click charge:
    • Click the Pencil Edit icon.
    • Update the meter rate as needed.
  4. To create a custom click charge:
    • Click the Duplicate icon.
    • Rename the click charge.
    • Adjust pricing to match your equipment costs.
Step 3 – Configure Paper Stock Options
  1. Locate Section 2: Paper Stock.
  2. Review the available paper sizes.
  3. To edit a paper stock:
    • Click the Pencil Edit icon.
  4. To create a variation:
    • Click the Duplicate icon.
    • Rename the stock appropriately.
    • Maintain the correct dimensions if you intend to use the same sheet size.

Important: Sheet dimensions directly affect how many greeting cards can fit on a parent sheet, which impacts material usage calculations.

Step 4 – Configure Trim Options
  1. Locate Section 3: Trimming.
  2. Review the available trim methods.
  3. Common trim options include:
    • Standard Trim
    • Rounded Corners
    • Ticket Trim
  4. Edit or duplicate trim options as needed to reflect your shop's equipment and labor costs.
Step 5 – Review Default Production Costs
  1. Locate Section 4: Default Items.
  2. Review the standard production cost items included in the BOM.
  3. Examples may include:
    • Digital Costs
    • Packaging
    • Cutting
    • Folding
  4. Adjust costs as necessary to match your production environment.
Step 6 – Test Pricing Using Check Pricing
  1. Open the Check Pricing tool.
  2. Review the default greeting card dimensions.
  3. Verify or update the card size as needed.
  4. Select a Click Charge option.
  5. Select a Paper Stock option.
  6. Select a Trim option.
  7. Enter a Quantity.

Example from the demonstration:

  • Card Size: 5" × 7"
  • Click Charge: Color
  • Paper Stock: 12" × 18"
  • Trim: Rounded Corners
  • Quantity: 100
Step 7 – Review the Price Breakdown
  1. After entering pricing inputs, review the calculated Unit Price.
  2. Click Price Breakdown.
  3. Analyze the breakdown details, including:
    • Number of sheets required
    • Paper stock consumption
    • Click charges
    • Trim costs
    • Packaging costs
    • Additional charges
    • Rush fees

Example demonstrated:

  • 100 greeting cards
  • 12" × 18" stock
  • Required 25 sheets

If optional costs are not selected, they will display as $0.00 in the breakdown.

Step 8 – Evaluate Rotate 90 Option
  1. Enable the Rotate 90 checkbox.
  2. Compare paper usage before and after rotation.
  3. Determine which layout is more efficient.

Example from the demonstration:

  • Standard orientation: 25 sheets
  • Rotated 90°: 34 sheets

Because the rotated version required more sheets, the standard orientation was the more efficient production method.

⚠️ Warning: Changing paper dimensions incorrectly can significantly affect sheet-count calculations and produce inaccurate pricing.

⚠️ Warning: Additional costs such as packaging or rush charges will not calculate in the price breakdown unless their corresponding options are selected.
